About this Blog
“Here we go yo, here we go yo, so what so what so what’s the scenario?”
-Tribe Called Quest, Scenario
I love hip hop – a culture born out of struggle and disenfranchisement and a testimony to human resilience and creativity. Whether it’s MC’s giving voice to the voiceless, DJ’s evoking emotion across soundscapes, bboys and bgirls creating beauty out of breaking their bodies, or graffiti artists expressing internal experiences in a visual medium – hip hop provides means to create, express, hope, and overcome.
As a hip hop fan and a mental health professional, I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of hip hop and mental health. This blog is my exploration of that intersection in an attempt to provide content in a culturally relevant and engaging manner.
