What does Sunday’s big game and Monday’s playlist have in common!?
From the halftime show to your Valentine’s Day playlist, expect essential tracks from hip hop’s most prolific artists.
I’m with Snoop - the lineup for this weekend’s halftime show is like a rap fan’s dream come true. In fact I may be looking more forward to the show than the game itself! Sunday’s lineup includes Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J Blige, and Snoop Dogg. The sheer volume of brilliantly produced, masterfully written tracks from each of these artists is astounding. For them to share the stage this weekend is a huge moment for hip hop and sure to be a great show for the fans. With today’s post I’m highlighting essential tracks from these artists that you may hear Sunday AND have on your Valentine’s Day Playlist. This playlist runs 43 tracks long (the song Searchin by Eminem is not on Spotify; this song was on an early album called Infinite, and you can listen to the track here). Each song was selected as a reminder. Songs to remind you to love others (this might mean your community, humanity, your friends or a stranger), to love your Valentine (even if you’re not doing anything for Valentine’s Day), and to love yourself (because you’re worthy of it). I chose radio edits when available but please be mindful that many may still contain explicit lyrics. Let me know what you think in the comments and if there are any other tracks that should be added.
